Lobbys Bavaria Towers
In the press
Munich, 23 June 2021. “Architecture is shaping the future!” is the motto of the 2021 Architectours event hosted by the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. With the pandemic in its second year, the tours will once again take place remotely, inviting anyone interested in architecture to virtually visit the buildings and designs of hundreds of architectural and landscaping projects across Bavaria. Among them: two of the Munich-based architecture and consulting firm CSMM’s one-of-a-kind developments. The redesigned “Olympia Business Center” from the late 1990s, which has been converted into a flexible multispace workplace complete with eco-friendly greening. And the multi-award-winning Bavaria Towers designed by architect Nieto Sobejano, where CSMM created an innovative interior design concept that shapes the unique identity of each office tower. “Sustainability in future-proof workplace design is not just an issue for experts like us – it has become more of a priority for the general public as well. There has never been a better time to showcase sustainable design, so we are delighted to share our vision in this year’s Architectours event,” says Timo Brehme, Managing Partner at CSMM.
For a lot of us, our own homes have not only become the place we live, but also the place we work since the spring of 2020. What was originally seen as a stop-gap solution will very likely become an integral part of our everyday working lives in the future, at least to some degree, and fundamentally change the way we design our homes and workplaces. It is up to today’s architects and designers to come up with visionary concepts that will pioneer the workplace of the future. Malte Tschörtner, Managing Partner at CSMM: “As experts for sustainability in the home and the office, we are shaping the future with the way we build. Many of the projects in our portfolio today illustrate how we can master the challenges facing the workplaces of tomorrow with ingenuity, courage and vision.”
The Munich-based consulting and architecture firm has two developments in this year’s Architectours that show how modern design is actively shaping the future. One of them is the Bavaria Towers on the eastern periphery of Munich. CSMM’s workplace design for the towers has not only won the Iconic Award 2020 (Innovative Architecture – Interior) but also the German Design Award 2021 (Interiors). With this innovative concept, the office interiors specialists at CSMM offer their unique take on the workplace of the future with three different designs for the towers, each with its own specific design language. The users of the space were the key drivers for the concept, which provides flexible and adaptable “places of possibility” tailored to the needs of the specific user groups in each tower.

At the Olympia Business Center, the future that Tschörtner and his team envision is above all green and sustainable. This development was one of the largest revitalisation projects ever undertaken in the Bavarian capital and has become a benchmark for repurposing and retrofitting the existing property stock. The CSMM architects designed the office complex to give staff collaborative spaces as well as flexible multifunctional spaces, with the greening of the office building as their top priority. Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling “Green Wall” and a fully glazed façade overlooking the Olympia Park biotope, nature takes centre stage at the Olympia Business Center.
